SEPA 2024

On Sunday March 17 2024, the European SEPA Schemes will undergo a mandatory change which will require Blarney Credit Union, along with other Irish participating Credit Unions and banks, to update their payment processing systems.

As a result of this, credit transfers may experience delays over the weekend of Friday 15 to Sunday 17 March.

How will this affect payments?

This means that SEPA credit transfers (Euro payments across Ireland & the EU) made on the afternoon of Friday 15 March will be credited to the beneficiary account by Tuesday March 19.

This differs to conventional weekend payment processing whereby customers would normally have access to funds over the weekend.

Here’s an example: Credit transfers that are completed on the afternoon of Friday March 15, and would usually be credited to a Blarney Credit Union account over the weekend, will be credited to that account by Tuesday March 19.

Similarly, credit transfers that are initiated on the afternoon of Friday March 15 by a Blarney Credit Union customer, and would usually be credited to the beneficiary account over the weekend, will be credited to the beneficiary account by Tuesday March 19.

How you can avoid delays in payment?

In order to avoid a delay in your payments due to be processed on the 15 March, we advise you to submit payments such as salaries or bill payments before Midday on Friday 15 March.

Please note, transactions between two Blarney Credit Union accounts are not affected.
